The safe, secure and efficient operation of London City Airport needs constant monitoring. The oversight by the CCTV Operations Officer is key to ensuring that daily activities, passenger and traffic flows are working effectively.

In the event of an out of course event the CCTV Operations Officer is vital to ensuring that key decision makers are kept informed of events, so an eye for detail, excellent verbal and written communication skills along with the ability to remain calm under pressure are all essential.

 

As a CCTV Operations Officer your key responsibilities include:

  • Ensure a safe, secure and high quality experience for customers and other airport users thorough monitoring CCTV and other systems.
  • Respond to alarms and alerts as required, initiating a response as necessary.
  • Escalate incidents as required to Emergency Services and or Campus Team Leaders.
  • Pro-actively identify issues that may impact the smooth operation of the airport and report accordingly.
  • Seek to identify threats to airport security using behavioural analysis.
  • Maintain a clear and high quality log of operations and incident reports where required. 
  • Liaise with LCY Colleagues, Airport Stakeholders and Emergency Services as required.
  • Provide out of hours cover for the airport switchboard.

 

As CCTV Operations Officer you must:

  • Ensure health and safety legislative requirements are met such as DSE assessment and health and safety awareness meeting all corporate HSE targets
  • Pay due care and attention to health and safety procedures and recommendations both on and off site to ensure the safety of yourself and others
  • Ensure any hazards or unsafe acts are reported through the Accident and Safety reporting scheme and to the relevant managers
  • The Terminal management team is responsible for health and safety performance and the implementation of corporate health and safety policy, arrangements and procedures.
  • Specific health and safety roles and responsibilities have been assigned to various posts and these are included in the roles and responsibilities section within the Health and Safety Manual

 

You must also ensure:

  • You remain vigilant at all times for threats and evaluate situations and take the necessary course of action with regards to unattended items/suspicious articles. 
  •  You demonstrate the highest levels of confidentiality.
  •  Pay due care and attention to security procedures both on and off site to ensure the safety of yourself and others.
  • Ensure security legislative requirements are complied with (such as instructed during initial and annual refresher General Security Awareness Training, GSAT).
  • You do not undertake any tasks or functions that will compromise the security of self, others or the organisation and to ensure that any acts that are witnessed that appear to breach security procedures are challenged immediately. 
  • Any acts which are believed to breach security procedures are reported through the Security Incident reporting scheme and to the relevant managers.
  • You are dealing with queries in a polite, professional and efficient manner with the travelling public, airlines, outside agencies and other departments within the airport.

 

Level of Responsibility:

Accountable and responsible for monitoring CCTV and other systems, reporting and where appropriating activating a response to issues arising.

 

Other Tasks:

  • Initiate Incident Comms
  • Door Alarms
  • Monitoring Passenger Flow
  • Including Airport access Road Rail etc for potential disruption
  • Maintaining CCTV Log (Centrik etc)
  • MIST operation

 

Key Competencies:

  • Previous CCTV Operator experience preferred
  • Behavioural Analysis Competency (Training Provided)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Working knowledge of standard IT systems and software (Outlook, Word, Excel etc)
  • Demonstrable ability to work unsupervised and take accountability for areas of work
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure along with the ability to remain focused in quieter times

Specialist Skills & Knowledge:

  • Computer literate familiar with Microsoft excel, word and PowerPoint (E)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (E)
  • Ability to analyse and interpret data – driving insights and recommendations for improvement (E)
  • Presenting technical information to different stakeholders. (E)
  • Ability to deliver results often through others (E)
  • Developing systems (records, working systems etc) (E)

Hours of Work:

  • This is a Full Time 42 hour per week permanent position 
  • Following a roster covering 24 hours a day, 7 days a week 365(6) days per year including Christmas Day and Bank Holidays
  • These times are subject to change due to future operational requirements
